6955 Blenheim Court

6955 Blenheim Court | Point Breeze Beauty Sold!

I am so pleased to announce the sale of 6955 Blenheim Court in Point Breeze. I have especially enjoyed working with my dear client in every facet of the sale. I first met Marlene at her stately home several months ago.
The first step was to minimalize the interior, and provide complimentary staging. This is a very important part of listing a home. You want the ‘look’.  Next step is providing professional photography to present online for all to see. And then its show time. I provide appointment by listor so should buyers have questions I am there to facilitate with answers.
Marlene was a dream to work with. And Leo was a special friend. Leo and I spent many a day taking a walk around Point Breeze. When the home went contingent I worked with Marlene through every step for a smooth transition.

Moving day was a little stressful with a beautiful snow fall five inches deep. We got it done! And off Marlene went with her daughter to her new home in Philadelphia.

I will miss Marlene & Leo. Marlene taught me so much about the history of Point Breeze and shared her love of Carnegie libraries. She is such an inspiration.

Here’s hoping the very best for her in Philadelphia!

Tis’ The Season To Count Our Blessings…

As 2019 nears an end and we are all readying for the Thanksgiving table let us count our blessings. Thinking of our family and friends near and dear, far away, those who have gone to be with Our Lord.

2019 has been memorable for me as a realtor. I have met and befriended many and you know who you are. It has been my pleasure to look through the ‘looking glass’ and smile at Gay, Diana, Erika & Dan, Karen, Marlene, Agatha & Fred, Charan & Sarah, Doug & David, Megan & Steve, Diane & Ron & Genevieve, Devon & Ian, Kim & Hansel, Phyllis & Bob, Jarred, Ellen, Yolanda & Roy, Hua & Yitao, Sandra, Alexis & Jason, Kimberly, Loreline, Liz & Kevin, Denise & Mark, Juan, Bea & Mark, Mandy & Todd, Rachel & Mike.

My favorite part of my job is getting to know each and every one of you. You are special. And so as Mr. Rogers make its debut may I say “Won’t you be my neighbor…”

7007 Penn Avenue in Point Breeze –She’s a lady

One wintry evening in Pittsburgh at the grand Heinz Hall, I sat ready to listen to another phenomenal production of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In wandered a lovely woman named Diana who sat next to me. We sparked up a conversation, she with her British accent, about how lucky we are to have the Symphony in Pittsburgh.

I mentioned I was a realtor and she replied, “Oh, I have a large home I should sell in Point Breeze. And it has a pool. I’ve got to get my kids in from out-of-town to help me sort out all my collectibles and keepsakes.” I gave her my card.

Several months later, Diana called me and we made arrangements to meet at her home — and what a grand home. She has lived there with her beloved husband William for over twenty years. I felt the love and deep-rooted contentment of residing there with so many warm memories for so many precious years.

Diana, who hails from Oxford, England, and Bill, who is of Scottish descent, had fallen in love with the house at first sight. Diana took to the large kitchen and Bill determined that the sitting room’ was spacious enough for a set of eight Scottish dancers. And so it became their home.

The formal living room aka the sitting room features gas log fireplace with hardwood floors, built-in bookcases, and gilded molding. Since the property also has a heated in-ground pool, they indulged in many evening dips.

The magnolia tree, azaleas and rhododendron are breathtaking from the front porch.Diana is an extraordinary gardener who welcomes each new perennial bud, from tulips, peonies, and bleeding hearts to the Wisteria wrapped around the front porch pillars. Throughout the season, more pop up: hostas, lilies of the valley, Swiss gentian, and cowslip.

The property is on a private lane with stone pillars and wrought iron fence owned by H. J. Heinz adjacent to Penn Avenue. Flowers adorn the fence and provide for a wonderful backdrop of gardens.

Getting Your Listing Summer Ready!

Concierge realtor…so you are looking to put your home on the market? Bring in the professional who will put on the shine, add the lipstick and the true ‘fixes’ to give your home the look.

Recently I resurrected a small ranch home. First the executor arranged to have an estate sale. The remainder of contents went to charities and the dump. Next came the professionals to give the home a deep clean. Then the plumber, electrician, and finally the painter. Paint is probably the best remedy for making a home ‘fresh.’ Its worth every penny and then some.

I added some furniture including sofa in grey with accent pillows, white birch logs in the fireplace, dining room table with flowering tower.

The photographer did his magic. And its show time. Open house.

Offers a’coming!

Yes, that’s me…your concierge realtor…Maggie Jayson!

Chapter 43: The Day in the Life of A Realtor

6:00 AM    Rise & shine. Take the dog out for a morning walk. Enjoy the views of the river along the trail. Quick cup of coffee while perusing the latest TV news.

8:00 AM    Hit the road with today’s showing itinerary. Arrive at RE/MAX office and meet new client and her sister.

2:00 PM    15 showings later, I drive back to my office with client and her sister. Talking about her selection and how soon she would like to close.

3:00 PM     Off to meet family looking for their first new home. Viewing three selections. Finishing at dusk.

6:00 PM     Driving home, looking forward to crashing with my dog, dinner on the sofa with a little TV. Prepping for Sunday open house by the computer.

8:00 PM    Conference call with out of town buyer and lender. Respond to emails and texts. Address any concerns before powering down.

Working as a full time realtor encompasses hours and hours of preparation and attention to detail, setting up itinerary to view homes, assisting clients in making once in a life time decisions. Decisions that will affect them and their dear ones for years to come.

I love working with people. Learning about them, making them feel comfortable to rest assured that I will have only their best interest at heart. Helping them network with finding contractors, window washers, insurance carriers, babysitters, new grocery stores, restaurants and best new friends.

As I take my morning walk along the path with my dog, enjoying the river, feeling the sun’s rays across my cheeks, I know this is where I want to be ‘right now, right here’ with my ‘new found’ career of just ten years. Financially it’s been my best year yet, but the joy of knowing that I continue to learn and love every aspect of my job is the real reason I continue on this journey. Can’t wait to see what the morning brings…

Washington’s Landing

A place like no other in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Just imagine living on an island in the middle of the City with marinas, walking trails, nature at its best, sidewalks and City lights. Amazing views as the sun rises against the 31st Street Bridge. Glistening waters with early morning rowers swiftly gliding by. Midday walkers and bicyclists enjoying the trails. Evening sunsets and jewel-like City skyline views. A community of 88 homes on the one side of the island and commercial/retail space on the other. Three Rivers Rowing Association, Redfin Blue Restaurant, Washington’s Landing Marina and Tennis courts. Downtown Pittsburgh “resort living” on the Allegheny River with green space.

So many folks have found a love affair with Washington’s Landing. One such testimony is that of owners Kathy and Lou Testoni. Kathy and Lou decided the ‘big house’ was just too much work and they wanted to start a new chapter in their life.

“We began to investigate our options in moving from our home. Washington’s Landing became a top selection.  I am an active cyclist, and my wife is an active gardener.  Having the bike path literally in our back yard and having an environment that is in a park-like setting was a big draw to Washington’s Landing as well. Initially, we missed the old house, but after more than 4 months we have both stated we don’t miss it anymore.  It’s not better or worse than what we used to have, but it’s more conducive to the  lifestyle we were looking forward to in our ‘out-years’–less worry, more fun and way more relaxing.”

So many more stories of wonderful Washington’s Landing folks to be told and so many more for those who will find their new home on the island.

Just a little bit of heaven…waking up each day to nature, breathtaking views…come see what Washington’s Landing has in store for you…

Photos produced by Larry Kilian over the years, while living on the island. He is an accomplished photojournalist.

And It Came To Pass…

Days — weeks — years — pass.

Seasons — holidays — birthdays — weddings.

Our lives are filled with complex, multi-tasking visual tweet-texts.

Take time each day to stop.

Reflect — relax — enjoy.

Get into the now of life.

Laugh — smile — contemplate.

As a full time realtor, I work with clients to bring new beginnings and conclusions to folks’ lives.

Rather than zone in on the small frenzies of change, I counsel them to look towards the future.

And it came to pass…
